This was my first BBG game I created and has been running for 8 years now. The game has been down for about 5 months now because I needed a break from it. There have been changes made since the last round but no large re-writes or anything were done.
It's not a pimp game in the meaning it's not based on the pimp game engine that has become so proliferated on the internet these past couple years. I tried to stay away from using the pimp reference but when trying to come up with tag lines etc the orginal players (when I was first developing the game) made the pimp reference "Pimp or Be Pimped" and I just sorta ran with it.
What makes the game unique is it's not based on any of the big "engines" that most games are (PimpWar engine, Mafia, eXofusion or LoTGD). When I started the only other game out there was Pimpwar and BlackNova Traders. I'm sure there were a few more but those were the big ones. The cookie cutter game engines came much later.
And yes I very much suck at writing copy for "selling" the game

The basics of the games though is:
You get a house, with 10 rooms to start.
You go to the club and find women, each lady that you find is given a skill rating, looks rating and bust size. These 3 factors determine how much she will make for you when you open your bordello for business. As she works more her skill naturally grows higher and thus makes more (skill is based on simple 1 - 10, 10 being the highest).
If her looks or bust size is to small you can take her to the plastic surgeons and have her stats increased and thus she will make more money.
As you make more money you can upgrade your house and / or buy more rooms to increase your bordello's revenue
You can also sell your ladies at the "meat market" to other players. The Market being a free flowing market that really does appeal to a lot of player's.
Then, of course, you can attack other players with thugs (ya I know not very original).
----------
That's it for the basics of why it is unique. Unlike a game using the PimpWar clone, the "women" are not an arbitrary number, each is given stats etc for you to increase.
Though out the game a lot of modules I built and use on my other games (Cypher, State of Crime and the soon to be released Gladiator Battles) were originally developed for BordelloBattles. The casino (video poker, blackjack, slots, keno, roulette and scratch tickets), the gang portal system which basically gives crews/gangs/factions or whatever you want to call them a portal with the ability to post news, have the own forum, member management, themes etc etc.
Anyways, even if you don't play but instead interested in the programming aspect of BBG's then you should take a look and see just how far you really can push an online game and what is possible. 8 years of running it has produced some great ideas and code, and some not so great LOL.
