Scion's idea based on the minigame is quite sadistic yet could be so satisfying.

Different rules or maybe different environments with different survibility patterns for each round could make this a very successful game.

Last man standing... I like it!

Hmm, that seems like a great idea! I hope you don't mind if I try to make that kind of game next?
I have been working on the core of my next game but I did run out of ideas what kind of game I want to make. I was making a quite standard rpg-like PvP game but I can change it easily to something like this. I have to rewrite alot code anyway, I changed from jQuery to Glow ( BBCs js lib, its so easy to use and browser independant so I don't have to worry about IE 6 and other older browsers).

I can send you pics of my cocks if you want reference.

Last man standing type of game can not be done in massive BBG for obvious reasons. I don't have the funds to advertise only to make it impossible to join for 95% of visitors who can not join because the game already started.

I plan of adding some elements of "the longer the harder" phoilosophy, but it should be mild, and definitely not elimination.

I'm looking especially for competitive and PvP elements if you have ideas on these.

Well, that's great. Raestlyn can give it a try then :D.

You could make the rounds short (a week, a few days, a day?) or run multiple games at once.

That was actually sort of what i envisioned....a new round starting every few days....once a week perhapes, the world would be closed as soon as the holocost occured and the next world would then open up for registrations, players could play as many concurrent worlds as they wanted, each world playing out until only one player is left....players profiles would then record what games they played in and how long they lived for... and and for the in-between times....hell theres still the solo game to play :) heck best scores from the solo game could also be stored against the players profile.

Yep, Scion, thats what I'm planning to do. One account, limitless number of tournaments you can participate. New tournament starts when ones registeration closes. You only would need one account to play.

Things that I have planned so far:
2 types of Items:
- Traps (can give you daily Food)
- Weapons (better fighting skill)
5 types of resources:
-Water
-Food
-Stone
-Wood
-Metal (or something, not decided yet)
Water and food is consumed daily + they can heal you a bit if you are injured, others are used to make buildings, weapons and traps.
3 types of buildings you can build:
-Dwell (gives you water if you use it)
-Shelter (Radiation is lower)
-Mine (gives you metal(?) and stone to build up things if you use it)

7 types of Skills:
-Gathering (helps you to get food and wood)
-Fishing ( gives you food and water at the Shore)
-Fighting (better changes to win a random encounter and stealing stuff from other players. Weapons raises this skills checks)
-Crafting (you can make better traps and weapons)
- Building (you will use less materials to make buildings)
- Dwelling (more water from your dwells)
- Hunting (more food from traps)

4 types of areas:
-Forest (High amount of wood and food, normal water, low radiation)
-Mountains(high stone and metal, normal water and rad, low food and wood)
-Forest (High amount of wood and food, normal water, low radiation)
-Mountains(high stone and metal, normal water and rad, low food)
-Shore (very high water, high food and rad, low wood, stone and metal)
-Wasteland (high rad, low wood, stone, metal and food, very low water)
-Shore (very high water, high food and rad, low wood, stone and metal)
-Wasteland (high rad, low wood, stone, metal and food, very low water)
You can move from one area to another, but your buildings will be left behind and there is a change they will be destroyed. There is also a trading post in every area so you can trade resources to up to 3 others with other players.

I tried to plan this that way that you could try out different kind of strategies, like being a "merchant", moving one place to another and trade resources to others so you could have plenty of everything, "builder", making great buildings and get loads of stuff that way or a "bandit" and pillage others. Each of type strategy needs a certain kind of skill set and items to make it work.

So, how does it sound?

Sounds good, as long as building, mining, etc doesnt take too long to complete.

One thing... Is there a benefit for living in the wasteland? As far as I can tell they are all disadvantages...

It would be cool if when in the wastelands you gained fighting experience at faster rate, because if Fallout3 has shown us anything, its that big bad monsters live out there in the wastes. And even an single ant could eat you alive :P

I actually forgot to mention that the amount of resources are limited. There is only set amount of resources in each area, so when for example Forest has run out of food and wood, you have to go to the wasteland.

I actually like the idea that you can raise your fighting skills faster in the wasteland. It reminds me of the great movie(s) called Mad Max :)

Raestlyn, thats  sounds like a nice base to work from.....my only comment would be ....whats with the mining and lumberjacking? Surely in a post appocalypse environment there would be enough building materials just sort of lying around either in dissassembled form in those areas that where destroyed and in pre-assembled form (ie empty houses, or non-empty houses) in those areas that wernt destroyed...I cant help wonder why nearly all resource management style games have mining and lumberjacking.....ok i understand you want people to be able to improve their current building.....perhapes approach it from another angle....instead of spending time gather resources and then time improving your existing building....why not just spend the time looking for a better shelter......the same end is achieved eg player A spends 8 turns chopping wood, 2 turns mining stone and 6 turns improving his level 4 building to a level 5 one. player B spends 16 turns searching for a better building than his current level 4 one. both spent 16 turns.

Actually the searching opens up a whole lot of new possibilities....what if the building he found is allready occupied..... what if he found a building where the occupier had just popped out to go to the local market.....what if he was attacked by a mutant wombat on the way.....or what if he got lucky and found a deserted level 10 shelter... or all he found were crappy tin sheds.....or after a day of fruitless searching he goes home to find someone else has moved in to his old place.....

still i guess the playing public is familiar with mining and lumberjacking.....;)

This is a great idea, I hope more than one person actually takes this on, and I hope more than one makes it out of the brainstorming phase. It'll be nice to see different approaches.

I like this game.. it is a quick time killer... the only thing I don't like is the luck factor... Half the time I am always out of Ammo so I can never kill anything  XD

I am truelly horrible at this game.. played it 4 times and only made it to day 36   XD

This little snippit of a game might actually be a kind of cool add on to a larger game... you have to survive for X number of days before you can progress.

Cool little game.

Or a minigame before actual play. The more days you survive the more resources you get at the start.

Yeah I'm just thinking how interesting it would be if there were a few of these mini strategy type games at one home (sort of like a Flash arcade?) .. Maybe I'm just being silly lol. I'd like to whip up something like this in some spare time though soon, I'll share if I manage to. I suck at this one though :(
There is one (sort of) :D
