Wizard Tower Simulator [not multiplayer]
« on: October 04, 2009, 09:08:57 AM »
Build a tower, get wizards, apprentices, imps and golems and defend it from monsters for as long as you can.

Unfinished, playable.

What do you think about "orders" mechanic? And about balance (this one was quite challenging balance wise to me, might still have issues)?

Nice, not sure what some things did though (Throne room, Recharge Rune)

Some buildings like the Mana Container and Libraries seemed underpowered and the randomness was a bit weird because sometimes I'd die from full shield/structure in a single turn or two without much reaction time.

WizTowerSim (v0.03)
GAME OVER
Your tower collapsed (15 floors) destroyed by invading forces.
Just before that you were able to open a portal and escape (833.083 knowledge).
You arrived safely to your new home.
You had enough knowledge to survive in the another dimension.
Your wizarding lasted for 81 years. Score modifier x5, total score 405. Congratulations!

I seemed to be doing quite well until windows rebooted my machine during my lunch. :(

I had, essentially, duplicated incarnate's achievements above but my structure and shields were still 100% intact and I had gotten it down to a pretty good science about how to defend my structure.

I think "recharge shields" might be a little overpowered. During a large battle, I would task my wizards with generating mana, place the apprentices on repairing shields, imps gathering gold, golems gathering stone. And I'd use my mana to recharge my shields. I had enough attacking power that I would, generally, eliminate more of the attacking force than I lost each round which allowed me to escape with only minimal structure damage.

Since I chose the living tower option, my structural damage would be fully regenerated before the next major battle.

But, I have to say that this game is VERY fun!
Idiocy - Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

An interesting game. I would suggest finding some graphics for it though.

EDIT: I've noticed that when being attacked, and there is only one type of monster, it still reads out information as though all 3 kinds were there. You might want to remove the unnecessary information.
