Successful Transfer
« on: August 30, 2006, 11:02:14 AM »
Well, I successfully transferred the forums from XMB to SMF in less than 30 minutes :)
I'm so proud of myself... :P

Anyways... Yeah. If you notice any bugs or anything wrong, please notify me as soon as possible!

It seems we do have a problem with the transfer... All the previous posts have been cut off at a certain limit of characters/words... That means you won't be able to completely view old posts...

I suppose the move doesn't really effect me as I wasn't involved in any of the old posts so as long as none of the new ones dissapear I will be fine  ;D

I like SMF, never used it but find it's fairly easy to navigate and noticed some nice skins available for it. Not too keen on the smileys though. Is SMF similar to IPB? like easy to change smileys, add hacks etc?

I know IPB very well and it's the only forum software I really know. I was adviced to use IPB on my site and the members chipped in and help purchase a licence. The board is dying down slowly though as I hardly go on  :D

Well, I think SMF is the easiest to install hacks and mods with.
THere's no coding involved, no file editing either.
You just download a package and the forum automatically installs it for you.

I prefer phpBB if you are going to use a free forum software.  vbulletin comes in first, then ipb, then phpbb, then smf and all the others.

I think SMF is the best out of the free forum software category :P
I would also prefer vB or IPB myself, but I can't afford the licenses at the moment.
