Help With IE
« on: October 04, 2009, 12:38:52 PM »
Just started the login page, I'm gonna take my time with all my pages and check them in the top few browsers before moving on. I never did this before, I made sure it worked in FF and that was it. I've got my first problem so far, Just done a simple table for user, pass and button to sit in and it shows 100% in FF but nothing shows in IE.. Never had this porblem before kinda weird. The source is there in IE.

My Site: www.lifeofcrime.co.uk/UTM

Check it out in IE and FF.

If you could give me any help for CSS with different browsers I would be really gratful.

P.S -> It's a temp login page before you ask. lol

I'd suggest visiting here and correcting everything listed. I know that the DOCTYPE errors can wreak havoc on IE.

ETA: While I still think you should fix ALL of the issues listed, adding the </title> tag is enough to allow it to display in IE.

MystressNyx is right fix the errors from    LINK
And the title tag thing does make it viewable in IE and Opera

If you only have on version of IE http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/index.php is a nice site can get a screen shot from IE5.5 to 8

just a reminder: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> is the first thing it is not contained in the <html> tag
W3schools DOCTYPE

And if you're wondering which of the several IE rendering engines you're getting, here's how to find out:

Harkins... that flowchart is, at once, beautiful and horrifying. lol It's beautifully useful but it's horribly convoluted. But, should we expect otherwise from Mickey$oft? lol

Another little program to render multiple IE displays is ietester. *Note: this product is currently hosted at another url, but there is a link displayed on the linked page and I figured it would be best to leave the future-friendly link instead of the one that might be removed at some later time. ;)
