Anyone need a part time coder? (PHP)
« on: March 25, 2009, 05:17:41 PM »
What I have:
Several years working with web development using: PHP,HTML,MySQL & Photoshop.

What I'm looking for:
Part or Full time regular income.

Why I'm Looking Here:
I'm trying to get my gaming platform finished, and trying to get another game off the ground at the same time, but alas the bills must be paid and food must be bought.. like now :) I've been supporting myself doing freelance web development for the last few years, but it adds a lot of stress, very little challenge and with the market the way it is right now, very little income. So I've made the choice to hang my hat and get a job.

My local job choices are limited/nil, and I'd much rather be honing my web development skills instead of flipping burgers or pulling banana peels out of printers.

Project-by-project is fine if there is continued work, but really I think I'm done with the freelancing thing in general. I would rather be focused on getting things done, not figuring out who I am working for each day. What I'm really looking for is something where I can devote X amount of hours each week on a set schedule.

So if you need a hand, let me know here or just PM me.

Heya Dasein,

Thanks for the reply. You are probably right, but I figured there was no harm in asking. Based on the number of replies to posts here, the pickins look pretty slim. But, you never know until you try.  ::)

And I really appreciate the effort in posting that list. It's a great resource that probably deserves a sticky in this area of the forum.

----------------------------
By the way, if anyone is interested I would be glad to do a small project of either coding or graphics for review.

Actually, the company that I work full-time for is in the process of converting several websites into the Drupal CMS system. Not the greatest, but better than our current. Heck, two of the sites (which were acquired last year from another company) are in flat HTML files!

Anyways, long story short, I own my own company as an 'on-the-side' thing. I might be able to convince the company I work for to hire my personal company to assist in the conversion process. If that happens, I'll be needing help. It's mostly a manual entry conversion. Basically, migrating from one MySQL database to another.

If you want to drop me your compensation requirements that might give me an idea of what to pitch as expected cost.
Idiocy - Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
