My Entry: Spellbound (tentative title)

I'm Michael van Baalen. I've been designing web games in PHP for a couple years, although I've never really taken on a big project and finished it.

I'm hoping to change that, and this contest is a good way to do it.

I just started designing a game yesterday (no coding done yet)

As of right now, nothing is finalized, but, I'm hoping to make a sort of PvP game with two players casting spells at each other; a bit like a card game in gameplay tactics, but adjusted to be over a long period of time, which is more fitting for a browser game.

I'll update this topic with more info as I come up with it.



As a sidenote, I'm really glad I found this site. I wonder why I had never looked for something like this before.

Update:

Got some basic stuff down, page layouts, register/log in, etc

Basic game design is down, and this is one of the key parts. This game has got to be competitive on a non-time based level (the best player is the best player, not the longest player) although there will be rewards for playing longer. Yeah, this will be difficult and I'm playing around with a few things.

Some basic database structure laid out, I've been pretty lax in the past but I want this to possibly go somewhere.

I've planned some of the more complicated gameplay algorithms in pseudo code, I've never done something like this before.

I'm going to have to formally drop from this contest.

The game will still be in development, and there is a chance that it will be done by the contest end date, but I doubt it. Other things in life have been more important, for example, school, and I just haven't been working as much as I'd like.

I would prefer to work at my own pace and create the best game possible rather than get something passable by the contest date.

So if anyone was looking forward to this, don't worry, and good luck to the rest of the participants!
