Patent is not everything, you need also to defend it in court. For example wheel has been patented :)

The idea I get from the article is that big companies are going after small time inventors and stealing patents like "hyperlink." The EFF is going to stop them. Right?
But, they state in the article that the patent system was designed to work with big companies. So this is exactly what should happen... If the inventors had blogs and and twitter then they could get jobs with any of these companies.
But I do appreciate the proactive approach and support the attitude 100%! The copyright and patent office is just too busy so a lot of things get through one way or another. Maybe the solution is to crowd-source the work? would that be possible??
