AP source: Microsoft, Yahoo near Web search deal

Hope it does not come to pass. I like Yahoo as it is. I do not see this as a good thing for Yahoo. Just MS wanting more of the search market. Even with the billions they spent on bing.com they are still behind and now they  want to make Yahoo a bing alternative.

---EDIT--

Reading more from other sources.  If it is the search  and only search that MS wants than not as bad as I thought. I do not use yahoo search anyway .  The bad thing would just be seeing the powered by bing image on the yahoo page.

Holly crap MS is willing to spend 11 billion a year to have bing go after Google

He should just admit that he's lost the search battle to Google, and move on. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't bing fairly new? I don't understand how he has already  lost to Google.

I personally would love to see more competition because it will mean better search tools for all of us.

more competition is a good thing, hopefully more innovation comes of this.

I however think this is just another lets grab that too and they won't grow it.
