Wow, I could write a 5 page article on why you shouldn't use IE. But I will keep my response simple and with a story.

A long time ago in a land far far away, I had a computer. I shared it with my sister and mother. We used IE because this was a time before I learned of the amazing thing named Firefox.
Anyway, we would get viruses on a daily basis because IE had a massive lack of security. My mother and sister were no where near computer guru's and needed a 50 minute explanation on what Yahoo was and how the hell do you log into it.
So, naturally they easily gave me viruses.
Sooner or later I became wise, and heard of the glorious firefox. I downloaded firefox, chucked IE out the window and into the dog house. Since then viruses have been few and now are an endangered species.

I forget about IE except for the rare moaning from the Dog House which I have learned to tune out completely.

Basically, IE sucks, firefox pawns.

I just don't like IE because, when developing pages you always have to keep in mind that IE just does whatever it wants.

I hate designing something, having it look great in every browser but IE.  Then have to figure out what is going on, and find some odd loophole to make it work in IE too.

It really gets annoying at times, especially if you don't  know all the fixes etc to make it work.  Lots of time wasted, when you could be developing instead.

First off let me say I use Firefox.. Hell I love Firefox, period.

But

IE is ~90% market share. To code your game and not take IE into consideration is basically shooting yourself in the foot. It's one thing to use FF as your primary browser but always and I mean always check your stuff in IE as well because the MAJORITY of the web uses IE, period.

I agree, I usually check out the sites with Opera also.. IE is huge at the moment, but FF is catching up quite fast. check this out.

The only real problem for me is Firefox still is a memory hog. I run windows XP on 256MB's of memory. That's all I have and I do a lot of other things so memory hogging is a big problem for me. But it's features are convenient enough to make up for it.

Wow, only 256MB? :(

Apparently FF3 uses less memory than FF2 though. And from my experience, it does use less memory ^^

How many computers do you think are sold a year with a version of windows installed on them? I'm betting its way more then 8.3million ;)

Just cuz it's better doesn't mean people will use it.

Yes, I don't really have any income so I can't upgrade. Even though RAM has become VERY cheap as of late. And making money online just isn't easy.

IE is not so big as it used to be. At least not in browser gamers segment.

Statistics from my site:
   MSIE Core         67.35%
  Mozilla/Gecko Core          28.29%
  Opera            1.96%
  Other Browsers              1.85%
  Mobile Browsers            0.50%
  Netscape           0.06%

Not as big true, but still would you make your site not work for 67% of your visitors? My break down is a bit different depending on the game.

Game 1
FF 68.66
IE 27.50

Game 2
FF 32.54
IE 64.52

Game 3
FF 48.46
IE 48.43

Game 4
FF 65.67
IE 30.30

I prefer Firefox over IE due to the additional stability, security, and support for web standards that Firefox 3 offers (as well as the ability to customize the browser interface & behavior).

Firefox, because it is safer, like the tabsystem better, and it is more user friendly.

Firefox, because:
It is secure
It is stable
It is fully customizable
You don't need to learn how exactly it will render the page. it uses the standard info.
And last but not least: I HATE Internet Explorer

I use Opera and Epiphany, depending on which OS I'm in

I don't like Firefox. I use IE8 sometimes.

Basically, for normal browsing I will use Opera or Epiphany. (There is no Flash player for Opera on Linux)
If I need a particular add-on (youtube video downloading, for example) I will use Firefox.
If I am doing something I need a non-Opera browser for (ActiveX for example) I will use IE8.

I like Firefox over IE because of many reasons already posted. It's more secure, it's more user friendly, and it conforms to design standards.
Also, it's add-ons are pretty useful. For example, when I create web pages, I make sure that they work on both IE and Firefox. Instead of opening the page in two different browsers, I downloaded the IE Tab and BAM!, I can simply click a button and then I can see what the page will look like in IE.
I'm not slacking off. My code's compiling.
