Best online browser game
« on: December 19, 2007, 12:56:01 PM »
Hi,

Like all of you have tried most games online, some are great, some suck.
A lot of the games have one or two great features, though the game itself may not be good in some way.

Here is my list of games that have some great things.

Fallensword

The best game in my opinion, at the moment. Its very nice, though kinda repetitive and has a "Grind" element to it.
Personally i hate the ability to PVP with anyone, anywhere, anytime. I think PVP should be only allowed if you are actually at the same location as the person you want to PVP. I also hate snakes and cats etc dropping gold.

Its best features are:

The movement map

Fantastic map and movement, best I have seen. Showing who is at the location and allows you to interact with them.
Its very fast too.

The Auction system

Again, very nice implimentation of an idea which is not usually used in a game.

The Bounty Board

Nice idea allows you to get your own back on a player.

>>>>>>>>

Knightfight

Nice graphics and unique system of you going out on quests taking time to give you stats and money.

Do you know of any other online games that have unique features or that are just great?

Tim

Kingdom of Loathing, feature-wise, is definitely the best. No contest. No game even comes close in scope and complexity. It would be futile to try to describe it in this post. I hate to admit it, but A3 is number 2. A3 is old as hell, and boring, but you can't deny that it is immersive. I do miss the Alien Adoption Agency though :(

Seeds of Time Online.  I created it so you might inaccurately see this as just self-promotion, but I have played many browser-based games over the years and I can honestly say that I believe Seeds of Time Online is the greatest browser-based game in existence today.  It has many features that are unique like catching monsters, Mining and Smithing tradeskills, the ability to learn spells from equipment (example: learn the Blizzard spell by equipping an Ice Staff for a bunch of battles).  More features are planned for the future, such as the Fishing and Cooking tradeskills.

So, give it a try, hope you like it. :)  It's a new game (just launched on Jan. 1, 2008 after ~2 months of testing) but there is plenty to do.  The community is integrated into the game as well-- forums, chatbox, Wiki, etc.  Have fun. B)

Best by far is Chosenspace, but the creator has 2 other games that may appeal to others; Why Chosenspace? The game evolves with the players, ad the players have SO MUCH FREEDOM!!
:) :D :) :D :) :D :) :D :) :D :) :D :) :D

Hi,

This thread has turned into a "Look at my game, its so cool"

However, the point of this thread is:

Give examples of innovative gameplay in a browser based game.

Anyone have any?

Kings of Chaos.

I have played many online Browser Based Games, and i seem to always go back to Kings of Chaos. It may not be the best too many people but i find the system to be quite alright.

I really like World of Dungeons (http://world-of-dungeons.net/mmorpg/eb/80580)

The mechanics are subtle and deep, yet the game itself is very easy to play. The game plays at a really smooth pace and is not time consuming at all.

www.tribalwars.net is very advanced with great map systems and strategy affected by many elements.

www.nukezone.nu is also quite good, with a very advanced and stable battle system.

How about shades of mystery at http://shades.playsleuth.com/
The game is well done and it doesn't take long to play.
It also has a nice map and great adventures

Torncity has been one of my favorites for the last few years. Starkingdoms is another I always find myself going back to when I'm bored. Just checking out KoL. Looks like it could be neat.

Nexus War (nexuswar.com)

Nothing comes close. It has a pretty expansive world (It keeps growing, it was so tiny when I started) and a lot of detail has been done for the fluff/story. It's probably as close as one could possibly get to a real MMO in a browser.

I've played my fair share, and I think it just stands up on top. KoL, A3, and Earth:2025 are honorable mentions. And Neopets for its popularity (though not necessarily its game play)

Kinda find myself going back to space:glory through conquest (now at zerosumgames.net) for the low tech approach to running a space empire, and knowing there will be guys' there who have played the game for over 7 years.  It's not bug-free but it's pretty good for a space tactic's combat strategy game.  Wish the map would work in something other than IE though.   :(

I've tried chosen space and somehow was not impressed at the feel somehow - it felt too big to play in somehow.

Loathing is pretty awesome - agreed there.  Love the little cartoon figures.

Oh, I haven't posted in here yet. Best BBG is Estiah.com, hands down. Great layout and navigation, CSS/JavaScript animated combats, balanced gameplay and enough humorous content to make you laugh.

I can send you pics of my cocks if you want reference.

Been playing it for about four years after playing the computer game version since 1984.
