I wonder about PHASE 3 (which obviously has to be made since only 2 would be sad :D). How about these:
- you can polish/redo your previous game (original or clone) and/or make a new one (but max 5 games per person please :D)
- there is no time limit (can use more than 24h, still need to make it within dealine). EXCEPT for people who put their first game now, if you have not participated in previous phases 1 or 2 you need to stick to the rules from the first post (this is because these rules are very nice when it comes to completing  the first game).
- the upper source code limit is upped to 24KB.
- for the voting I think about giving 2-3 votes in the pool (depending of the total number of games), so player could choose up to 3 games he/she likes the most. This would make the outcome more realistic many players play more than one game. So, if you are second best among plenty it makes not much difference from game developer's point of view.

You can start coding now, the rules for PHASE 3 will be quite flexible/liberal so no matter your choice it should be OK (and if not you will just put the game on PHASE 4 :D)

PHASE 3

Haha, I don't get it at all any more xD.
If this is your first game then you are bound to the rules of PHASE 1 (check first post).

If you already made at least one game in previous phases you have different rules:
- no time limit (only deadline)
- max 24 KB
- you can make a new game, clone other person's game or improve a game you made previously
- you can put max 5 games into the competition for PHASE 3

The deadline is 11 April.

So, what do you put for PHASE 3?

I will put 1 new game (can be considered a clone of Wartime Mobilization):
Wartime Industry
http://worldoflords.com/misc/games/wartimeindustry.php

And of course the remaining games from previous phases (Anti-Dragon Hero, Wartime Mobilization).

I will probably try to improve the Anti-Dragon Hero (but have not clear vision of that one right now, would use some tips...), definitely will aim to get the first spot on the DragonSlayer group category :D

Wonder if anyone will try to enter the "space trading" group and beat the original :D

I created a little demo just for me today and yesterday... It's not much but I could put it online and enter phase 1 (?)

I created this very small demo just to see if the base mechanic was any fun. This really is the most basic example and I'm going to extend it a little bit to make it more tactical. If it turns out to be fun, it'll become the base of the battle system of an rpg. You'll take on a mission and get a reward if you can handle multiple enemies in a row (you can log off between enemies though) ... okay, back to topic.

So the story is: "You are a mage and you kill of that other mage by returning his magic."

When one of the "elements" lights up you have to click it to return the magic and do damage to your enemy. When you are to late the magic will hit you and you'll loose health. Damage to your health is always 10. Damage to the enemy depends on the element. It's entirely random which elemnt lights up so it actually doesn't matter... I'm going to do more with those numbers in the next versions of this demo (keep in mind it should become an rpg battle system).

I didn't really time it but it definitely took less than 24h (max a few hours when excluding css and gfx). The code is just over 9kb. The gfx are over 700kb though.

I used 4 canvas elements (the "mob zone", the "health-o-meter" and one for each element). So the game is actually only javascript... Anything else you need to know?

My entry is my first attempt at a javascript canvas game:

Roid Runner! Evade the asteroid field by navigating with the arrow keys. The code (a single HTML file containing javascript) is 6.36 KB. Including images, the game is 14.6 KB. It uses the HTML5 canvas, so IE is not compatible.

The focus was on a playable game prototype, so forgive the half-assed messages that use javascript alert boxes.

Post your high scores! and try to beat mine: 3580. (EDIT: now 3909) I'm sure someone can do better. There is replay value in the various random game-over messages :) Otherwise, the asteroids are randomly generated but nothing else changes.

The graphics are not mine, they come from a fantastic old game called Tyrian, and they were released for free use by the artist himself, Dan Cook, at http://lostgarden.com/2007/04/free-game-graphics-tyrian-ships-and.html

Is there any reason not to just stay at the minimum speed?  Accelerating just seems to mean dying faster...

Voting for PHASE 3 started (expires in 7 days) http://community.bbgamezone.net/index.php/topic,2791.0.html

All people who entered the contest need to vote for at least 1 game, you can not vote on your game.
