Other browser-based game forums
« on: March 23, 2007, 02:24:08 PM »
I used to visit two forums that were php game related, phpgaming.org a few years ago, and php-gamers.com until recently. Both sites don't exist anymore :(

Recently there has been another site, PBBG.com and PBBGDev.com. I regularly visit PBBGDev.com but it doesn't seem very active either.

Does anybody know of any other browser-based game forums?

This is the best one I've found so far (as far as dev-based).

Yep, PBBGDev, php-gamers and bbgamezone are the only ones I know of.

There is a php-game forum on php-editors.com but its a really, really, really bad forum. actually just people with zero knowledge looking for someone to make their game.

I might extend into the bb forums later (hurray competition). I'm looking to setup my own webmaster forum for now. Which is currently saturated, but I think I'll be able to market it well enough.

PBBGDev is okay. I'm kind of glad that these communities are on the smaller side, once communities get really big you start to get people who are more trouble than they're worth.

I totally agree with that one. I'll take Quality over Quantity any day.

A bigger and better community might attract some more experienced game developers, and that would be really great... I'd like to see how the bigger games are managed and developed.

Haha yeah, the only contribution I've ever made to the scene is ExoFusion and SilentStalk :(

And those are pretty much the ruin of it all, they're so poorly coded and way too many games are based off of them. They were the next-generation BlackNova scripts. Now I'm seeing a bunch of games that look really similar, but aren't ExoFusion derivatives. I don't know what they're based off of but they all look the same. I'm talking about games like ChaoticWars and Tropical Terror. There are a bunch more, I don't feel like finding the rest of them.

Doesn't look either very active nor on a high level...

Plus: mainpage says: registered members 157.... memberlist says: 20 :p

Maybe offer a merge of the two forums? :)

Lets see if we can communicate with them.. And create a system where it's like two people on mountain tops yelling at each other. :P

How about making a shout-box that randomly dops some letters or words? :)
Or generates an "echo". <- this would be a fun project :D
*Sorry for going so offtopic.

Back to topic:

I had the impression that the bbgtalk site seems to be pretty new. This might explain the lack of interesting topics. (I haven't found anything that interest me eiter)
