Register vs Sign Up
« on: October 31, 2009, 07:41:55 AM »
I wonder which one to use (homepage): Register, Sign Up, New Player, Start Playing.

Also, if I use Sign Up should I also use Sign In instead of Login?

Do you have any info about current players perception? Can these affect players registration volume?

I think, traditonally the Register+Login is used in BBG, it is clear for hardcore players (but still hardcore players are hardcore enough to find it no matter how it is named, so it does not matter anyway). I also noticed that social networks tend to use SignUp+SignIn.

Hard to decide :D

I would just stick with the register + login. It's clear for anyone, sign up + sign in is confusing and you are not a social network ;).

And how about "begin adventure"? Yet it seems that login and register are the most popular.

Or "join (the world of ...)" but then I think more matters is that the registration is short and quick

I would say that if people are new to your game, they are looking for a new bbg to play. So let them play it.

Also, like I said in the other thread, I think it is important to show how the new person some current game news and activity...if they join RIGHT NOW what can they expect to be doing with other players? Show them some community features, like top 5 and newest forums/chat/players/solved quests/PVP/etc. New people don't really care about the long backstory until they are already playing the game, so try to get them feeling involved immediately.
