It kinda looks like Facebook's platform in a way and their new connect feature.

Essentially, Google Friend Connect and Facebook Connect are the same thing - except for different pieces of the 'social' pie. Google's Friend Connect allows you to retrieve data from OpenSocial-backed sites, and Facebook Connect allows you to retrieve data from, well, Facebook.

As far as I am aware, they can be used in the same way as OpenID - but they're meant for much more.
