Versioning?
« on: November 09, 2006, 02:12:25 PM »
How do you organize your files and version them?
I've only recently started trying SVN  on Google Projects and on CVSDude.com where you can get a free hosted CVS/SVN repo.
I have to say that it is a really cool feature, but I don't really see the use of it for private games.
I think it's only useful if your project is open source, is being developed by a group or will be available to the public.

Hah, yeah. I used sourceforge but I don't like the interface...
Google Code is much easier to use and setup :)

You mean, how to use the SVN repository?
I suggest downloading an SVN program... I've got tortoiseSVN, and it took some tinkering to figure out how it works. I'm still not so familiar, but I can work with it well enough to use it :)
If you need any help with tortoiesSVN, you can ask here  :)

We use MS SourceSafe at work for revision control. For PHP projects I haven't used one yet.
