Whats better?
« on: October 21, 2008, 03:24:23 AM »
I just wanted everyone's general opinion on whats better.
If you played a medival bbg would you prefer it to be realistic or have like a bit of a fantasy twist, like dragons, etc?

If its medieval then realistic, but if its clearly fantasy then Dragons and stuff.

Each are separate sub-genres. And I like either if it's done properly. I don't think too many people will have a strong preference on this issue.
Idiocy - Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

I would consider numbers of those genres, too.  My guess is that there's a lot more fantasy-based games than non-fantasy based, but it's just a guess.

I've found that very realistic games aren't so fun and deep when compared to fantasy games.
I guess it depends on how realistic you want it to be. If it's too realistic, you're blocking off a lot of ideas and opportunities.

Thats' what I was thinking to :). I'd like it to be not TOO realistic but also not TOO fantasy like. (dragons is to fantasy to me :P)

Also, I was wondering do you people generally prefer games where they sit down for a bit and play each day (like a hour or two) or just a game, they go in and check up on stuff and leave? (like 5 mins)

There are both kinds of people. I tend to log in atleast 5 times a day in the games I play if I have nothing more important to do, sometimes for 2 hours and sometimes for just min or 2.

Yeah, I usually play a web game that I like several times a day for quite a while.

I prefer games that you can continue playing for a long time in one go though, not games where you can only do something/check in every 5 or 10 minutes. There should always be something to do.

Indeed. I also like games where there is a main goal, but also multiple small goals/games besides that one goal. I think everyone has hear of renaissance kingdoms? Well, you really only can do like 5 minutes a day to accomplish your main goal. But for the rest you can do politics, go to the forums, chat and drink beer and (what I liked the most) play poker!
