Umm, I recently switched hosts, so I don't have complete statistics for an entire month.

But so far for this month, it's had around 1.5GB of traffic.

I like to think it's because my sites are well optimized and efficient, but it's probably because you get a lot more traffic :P

Where does most of the bandwidth go to? Downloads, images, or just people viewing the forum?

pageviews, aprox 30k a day

the forum template is the lowest possible from smf, the babylon template, a lil bit adjusted but no to make any big difference

from the stats panel

bbgamezone smf forum

2008-12-17   5   28   22   23   3509

ce smf forum

2008-12-17   16   146   5   100   28846

users online at this time of posting

bbgamezone

8 Guests, 9 Users

CE (bah not much right now )

30 Guests, 30 Users (4 Spiders)

Anyway can't compare as both are in the same segment of browser based games yet totally different.

mdshare,

"With great power comes great responsibility" LOL I couldn't resist

Your forums have a lot of info, very active but the lag! After a couple of days during various time (I work an odd shift so my online time is a bit later then most) I just couldn't take the lag anymore and haven't been back since.

I wonder too as some friends of mine run pretty large forums if this isn't SMF's fault. The rest of your sites I've been on are very snappy. phpBB, vBulletin both have very large communities all over the net and I've never come across lag like that before on a forum and it seems its just the forums.

the issue (lag) was due to a change of datacenter and the servers wheren't well ... setup as it should be ...

should be fixed, and I don't get any lag from it but I do agree it was ... a bit to much lag the first weeks at the new datacenter ...

smf itself isn't the problem was the datacenter/server

only the forum is at the San Diego datacenter, http://www.americanis.net/locations/san-diego-kearny-mesa.php

the other sites are at the LA datacenter http://www.crgwest.com/Data_Centers/onewilshire.html
