I need some ideas for a browser based game for girls :)

I want to make some game for girls but i need a good idea Thinking about  some social stuff where girl battle for fame or some cookie tycoon / plant tycoon style game or don`t know something that would get the girls attention Post any idea you have Thanks in advice!

I think Zynga's new game "Farmville" is targeting women, you could check it out for ideas. I've heard their game Vampire Wars is pretty popular with women, perhaps its because you can team up to do missions.

21st Century Game Design, one of my favorite game design books, has a decent amount of research on what game types appeal to women. I recall it has a nice story about The Sims' path to success with women.

Make a game where dungeons are shops. Wich they can explore and find clothes in it. And the monsters are salespeople wich she tries to bargain the price. She get experience and level wich stats she can use to spend in like beauty, social, seduction stats. To earn money you find a random guy at street and sleep with him, then you get payed. OOh and you can have kitties as pets!!!
And for the layout, make it pink!

Depending on who your targeting, there can be things like pets, gardens, dating, tea parties, weddings, shopping at the mall, makeup, fariys and princesses, .....the list goes on lol.

They level up everything to be able to get the best suff when the mall opens, and when theyre not shopping or leveling, their stealing things off people, spreading rumours, and bitchfighting...

Well from what I have read and observed, one of the largest audiences of internet flash/internet gaming 20-35 females. This is a huge audience for flash portals that could be targeted for pbbgs. unfortunately this doesn't give you any ideas since there are hundreds of unique flash games...unless you were to make a game full of flash mini games.

Wow... There is so much I could say about this thread but I think I'll just leave it alone. lol Anyhow, in my experience, I've found that women are usually drawn to games offering a more immersive story element or that appeals to a specific sub-genre that the woman is interested in. I know women who've played vampire / mafia games simply because they like that sort of 'world.' Basically, the female games that I've encountered are just like male gamers and I think a lot of them would actually be insulted by some of the ideas above.

Now, that said, I think if you did some overly ridiculous 'spoof-style' shopping game (similar to the treatment given to MMORPGs by the last contest winner), I'm sure it would hit a 'sweet spot' for a lot of people.

Yep, being a woman in that demographic, I am definitely insulted. If you truly believe that's the mindset of the average women, then I hope you make a game just like that as you'll end up getting exactly what you deserve. lol

Well, I think your best shot is to ask the girls . Can't your girlfriend post an entry to ask what game they would want to play? Which would be their dream game?

Umm just t clear something up, I have nothing against girls, hell i wouldnt be with my awesome girlfriend if i did, and I know you guys arent shopping 24/7. Its just that sadly, it is a stereotype that has suck, and I think a good idea to exploit for a game.

However, as shown here, girls will be insulted if the game is done seriously. Thats why it would have to be made correctly, with a humourus element, to keep the players.

However, I think that asking girls would be a great idea...

cant realy do that i want to make it a little surprise if you know what i mean.
 i have come up with these stuff now
features from the game:
- dressing
will be something like an rpg game like diablo or someting with a few boxes with a siluette faded in the background and that`s where you drag and drop your stuff like dresses hairstyles shoes bags and other girl stuff

- pets
i will add some pets and you must take care of them dogs hamsters etc accesories for them

- home
similar to dressing but you will dressup your house

-shop or mall
where girls will buy stuff

-ebay
where girls will sell used stuff

-gym
where girls get more beaty


- work
girls will have some jobs to get money so they can buy stuff

-stats
rpg style stats so some clothes or stuff that you buy will give points and at making level you will get also points

-club ( chat )

-food and eating status
you will have food and you have to take care how you eat coz you get to fat and ogly or too skinny

-energy
you will have energy that will refill every 10 mins or 30 mins will see so the girls wont stay non stop on site


and that`s all for the moment
 i have a realy big problem don`t know what to do to compare the best. i need some idea but not fighting. i don`t want the girls to fight and to make beaty contest its not a good idea since i cant make the game in flash or something to make the dress up look real if you get what i mean so i need some idea.
i want to make the girls battle somehow but the winner has to be smart so it has to be a little bit hard to get in top but i got a big lack of idea

You can still make it look alright without flash... Have you played Tribal ars? Something similar to the village screen, but with the girl and her clothes... Probably do the same with the house

Have you seen women of Hollywood recently? Apparently there is no such thing as 'too skinny.' Personally, if their ribs are visible without requiring a stretch = Game Over. lol

Well, "Net Worth" comes to mind pretty quickly for this type of game. Also, you could display rankings by statistic as well. Appearance / Beauty could be gained for certain outfit combinations or something of that sort.

Obviously, the woman with the most successful husband to provide for them is the best /joke. Seriously though net worth as JGadrow mentioned is a possibility, but often times its easy to raise that a lot without actually gaining much as far as the game goes (Just because you have the most gold in a game, doesn't mean you are the best). Personally I would rather rank players by accomplishments, something comparable to an rpg's level would be a good choice.

another idea that might work would be having different types of shopping (clothing, makeup, hair, ...) and the more you use each one, the better you get at it. then you could rank players by who has the highest ranking in each shopping type. This would double as a way of showing who shops the most too.

I think it would be a much better idea to build a game around collaboration and social interaction than stereotypical jokes about shopping.

I'm working on a small game like this now for practice with the Facebook API... I hope to post about beta test in a week or two, but I'm in the process of moving and that'll probably disrupt my schedule.

I'm not so sure. Humor tends to go a long way in my opinion. I think something like this would be easy to understand and has the potential for ensuing hillarity.

I think a game based around collaboration and social interaction would make for a more 'serious' game. However, who says all games must be serious? Also, a game based on humor is an easier sell to 'non-gamer' girls. Generally, if something's funny, people will try it out even if they don't intend to get hooked into playing a game.

So, for the proposed scenario of having something to solicit to these visitors of his girlfriend's (wife? I forget lol) blog, it's probably best to go with something that's not a serious endeavor.

My sister and a lot of her friends also a lot of my friends (girls) spend a lot of time playing strategy games and also racing games...
You could try for those. I have seen that they like specially the empire building part of the strategy games and customizing in racing games  . But I cannot say the same about the building up strategy, fighting and racing the cars  .

I am not putting this in general perspective but that is what I saw
