Post Count for the Vault
« on: January 29, 2009, 06:34:27 PM »
Ok, while I understand why it began this way, is it really adding anything valuable to the forum? With this new rash of spammers making it there in a day while irritating the piss out of the regulars, I would have to say no. My suggestions are changing access to be based on length of time signed up, removing it all together, or looking into an auto-locking mod so that they at least could not troll dead posts. Just my 2 cents.

I know I am new here, but I have to agree, in my short time here I have noticed quit a few members spamming pointless and less then one sentence post's as of late.Normally I do not put people on blast for such things as its not my place, but in this case I feel its needed, Just look at almost every single one of paveness1 post's. He's averaging 15 post's a day in 4 days!, All of which I will guarantee are under a sentence worth's reply and add nothing constructive to the post at all.

Well lots of people are to impatient to get there post count up right. This is why you need staff to either set it up to not allow short post or to not have it count.

I agree, but perhapes the spamming could be reduced a little by letting people know a bit more about whats in the script vault....perhapes make a publicly available catalogue of whats in there....and re-iterate that most if not all of the scripts can be found online in other locations with just a little bit of googling....and that the point is to be a resource for members so that they have one place to come too if they want to take a look at one of the scripts...

another option is to host the scripts somewhere else and then just make them freely available....

one thing that i would find would add a great deal of value to the scripts is reviews....both of the game / its features etc and of the code quality & libs used...

I agree. I actually gave a reputation smite today when I saw a member post a reply to a topic that simply said:

I've been a long-time fan of just removing the restrictions for the script vault. There's nothing in there that's really worth protecting is there? If people are gonna spam the forum just to gain access, who does that help?

post 54.....
...
..

Just kidding.

Although this is my 54th post and I am one shy of making vault access so I can retrieve that darned water chip I am still not a fan of post count access. But neither am I a fan of just giving unlimited restriction. It does force people to engage the community and give something back, opinions, feedback and hints or conversation. I am highly supportive of time restriction.
