Unlock threads request
« on: October 17, 2009, 08:09:42 AM »
I request unlock of currently locked topics and no further locks. The reason is that the forum become not usable. For example on the Game Owners board there is only 1 topic that is not locked... Even sticky topics are becoming locked now.

I would prefer occasional resurrection of dead topics and increase of spam than the current locking. Current system is just an overkill.

They are willing to unlock threads on a per-case basis. Perhaps the thread you wish to comment on could be unlocked. But, there's always that 'New Topic' button. ;)

It won't do, the whole GameOwners board is not usable because of locking. You can't even add your game to the list because the sticky thread for this is locked... You know, this is not a board where they post *each* month :)

Again... that's probably a special exception that they would unlock the thread for. But as far as the "Game Owners board" not being usable... nothing is 'unusable' as long as the "new topic" button works.

Ever since they've locked the threads the spam has been at a minimum and almost all discussions have been relevant or at least related to something in the semi-recent past. I definitely prefer that it remain that way. :P

This is definitely a situation that was as simple as requesting that a thread be unlocked, which it has. As for the rest of that forum, it really has not taken off as there are only a handful of posts and they were all many, many months ago. It's rather redundant and it induces a segregation that I don't personally feel even benefits the forum. However, I'm just one person. That aside, we do not feel that this warrants a change to the recently adopted policy of locking outdated threads at this time.

Admins have ignored my deletion request - if you're not going to delete my account then don't have the option there please.

This forum has a history of spam / trolling. So, in response to a suggestion, I did an all-inclusive lock a few months back that closed threads not posted to for at least 6 months.

I still feel that having locked threads (which can always be reviewed for their information) that no one could be bothered to post to more than twice a year is a small price to pay for the time and irritation saved not only in moderation, but by the people that were tired of going through 1 line replies to terribly out-dated posts to find the ones that were actually worth something.

Once again, if there does happen to be something that anyone feels truly needs to be revisted, it's as easy as sending me a PM.
