Monatar unveiling

Hi everybody, my name is Monatar. I have been lurking this forum for a while. It's time to show myself to the people here.

After having thought, deliberated and considered things for a long time (years) i decided to give it a go and start developing my own PBBG. In fact it will be an MMOSSG (new acronym?) by the temporary name of Popularis. This is Latin, meaning compatriot or associate.
It is a rather ambitious project, as the game will inhibit at least a handful of new(ish) or maybe even unique game features. The main focus of the game will be character interactivity and society building.
At the moment the game is in early design status, i am still working on the design document.

I have a background as a boardgame designer (no notable publications) and an IT-professional (a long time ago, using mainframes). That should help...

Sometimes people say their game is going to have revolutionary new features or ideas but when it is actually made it isn't so revolutionary. I'm hoping you are not going to disappoint us all.  :P

@dbest & Barrikor: SSG stands for Society Simulation Game.

@capturts: if my game would not be breaking new grounds i would be disappointing myself. There are not many society building games anyway, and i have never seen one with support for building social structures more complex than gangs or guilds with a single leader.
Plus, Popularis will use a generic society model (covering all aspects of societies, not just economy and 'leadership') of my own design. I'm pretty convinced this model is unique.
