Salutations
« on: April 21, 2010, 07:28:34 PM »
Greetings, I am just registered.  I currently am programming a space-based BBG called Universal Supremecy (www.icugaming.pcriot.com/usbbg.  Feel free to check it out, it's far from done, but the basics are there.

Edit:  Forgot to add, I am currently looking for another programmer to help me get the game going a little more.  I currently have another team member whom is not very strong in programming and rarely programs anything, so anyone who would like to jump on the project just let me know, that'd be great :)

Welcome!

And a couple minor tips:

1) You don't have to make your game fully-functional without javascript, but you should at least take a look at the front page with javascript turned off to make sure that it behaves sanely without it and, if javascript is absolutely necessary, tells the user to turn it on.  When I first got there (with NoScript blocking your site from executing anything), I found a page with a few news item headlines and sidebar items that all looked like links, but none of them responded when clicked.  Not good.

1a) Wrapping links in javascript may be what the cool kids are doing, but don't forget to do it in such a way that they still function as plain old garden-variety HTML links if javascript is turned off.  Breaking basic browser functionality is never a good idea.

2) If you're looking for an extra programmer, you might want to mention the language involved.  (I assume it's probably PHP, but it never hurts to explicitly state these things.)
