I don't know if this is the right place to post this. I am interested in learning java, I usually read from books, but I was wondering if there was a good website out there that I could check out.

I think the java website itself has some tutorials :)

I think it's only for java SE though.

i learn java at uni

we use bluej... its a very easy first timer program... all object oriented..

I bought a book "Sams teach yourself Java 2 in 21 Days" I've had good expeirencese with other sams teach yourself books so that's why i got it, such as php, mysql, apache, c++, javascript, html/dhtml/xhtml

Do you mean... Java java? or Javascript Java?  I know there are some very nice things you can do on the Java website exactly like Zeggy said.

Let us know how the book is and how it goes with the java.  I've thought about looking at some java programming a few times but never really had the time.

We have to use Eclipse, but I really don't like it. I hate overly complex IDE's. If anyone ever made a Notepad with just tabs and a Compiler dropdown in the menubar, I'd be happy forever.

I hate getting disappointed when I see things like Editpad and shit that claim to be like Notepad, but really they're just the same bloated useless garbage :(

I use TextPad, but it doesn't compile, and maybe it's the same 'bloated garbage' you're talking about :)
