Just a few updates:

More prizes added, sponsored by http://www.bbguniverse.com/

Wow, so many prizes now. It's gonna be hectic!

Also, added a new rule: You can only be part of one entry/team. Should be no problem though, haven't seen anybody doing that yet!

Just a question to you all: I've never run a contest before, so I'm not sure how it should go. I have several people willing to judge the final entries for the contest. Do I need to announce who they are, or is it normal to keep it a secret about who voted for which game? :P

I think that you should announce who the judges are after the winner has been chosen and there should also be a thread setup were the judges can post what they scored each game and why. That way nobody can try to bribe the judges (like lewt24 said) and so that contestants can see what they did good with their games and where they need improvement.

but they cannot be related to any of us in any way.... business.... online.... real life

they cannot know any of us at all

Does that mean just some random people can judge or can forum members that don't know anyone working on a game, judge?

Will the results of this contest get any write-ups from the sponsors?  I am kind of thinking about the winner take all approach of this.  It might be cool if the sponsors agreed to do a single article on the top 3 games so that the second and third place winners get some press.  Or maybe break it down into categories (visual, most compelling gameplay, most unique, ...).

I am not knocking the one winner for the prizes, but a one time press event is a decent consolation for second place or that game that took a risk that just did not pan out.

Yeah, I was thinking of that, and was wondering why I didn't have that from the beginning. I guess I just didn't expect to have so many prize sponsors and so many contestants :)

I think it's too late now, unless any sponsors are willing to do this.

For the next contest I do plan to have prizes for not just the winner, but for runner-ups. Not so sure about the different categories though.

Half of the competion time has passed. Should we soon put a list of games that are currently online? Would be nice to check how everyone is doing.

Building Browsergames is open to publishing post-mortems from game creators on their games after the contest is finished - whether they won or otherwise. All you've got to do is send an e-mail to buildingbrowsergames@gmail.com.

I'd like to know more about how the scoring is going to work/who the judges are and whatnot. I am considering a late entry based on RangerShecks awesome MoveableMap - although its gonna be tough to throw something together in three weeks...

I'd also be happy to sponsor a planet (basically, a link from the stats) on WMD Tank Battle for second place, "Planet of the Runners Up" or something. Zeggy, message me if you're interested.

WMD Tank Battle - Multiplayer Conquest PBBG with AJAX and CSS sprites. All feedback is appreciated !
