A Wiki for PBBGs?
« on: November 28, 2007, 04:37:01 AM »
I know I've brought this idea up before, but this is slightly different.
I'm thinking of starting a wiki for PBBGs in general, not affiliated with Browser-Based Game Zone.

Game owners/players can create their own articles for their favourite games, and anybody can edit the wiki.
It could have sections for games, for coding, for history, or just general information.

I'd get a separate domain for this, and use the same software as WikiPedia.

I'm just not sure what kind of reception it would get. There's already an official wiki AND forum for PBBGs, but neither are exactly active. That wiki is only updated when people want to put their biography on it.

Would this be a good idea or would it fail?

Yeah, a wiki would be a good addition. Another good addition would be a blog, which would act like a centralized news source for pbbg's. Articles about new games coming out, developer articles, and all that.

Haha, I'm not a blogger. I don't have anything to blog about x.x
I'll leave that to somebody else :)

I know of a few PBBG blogs out there, they just need to post a bit more and focus less on their own games :P

I could always be a contributor to it. PBBG voting sites and portals are pretty out of date, are falling into disuse, and have little to no community following. If one site could finally come along and provide a blog, forums, as well as a directory of good games (i.e., a moderated directory, where some games actually get denied because they're just terrible), it would probably have a pretty big impact on the scene.
