Current project
« on: March 28, 2007, 04:29:40 PM »
I just started working on a game the other day, because I haven't made one in a while. Since I started working on it in my dorm room, away from all my other scripts, I was forced into making everything from scratch which a lot better than using legacy code.

It's an old-school RPG game, simple layout, but I wanted it to be done WELL, because I'm probably going to give it away just like every other script I've written. :/

Haha there's a screenshot there, but my host is down. It should be back up soon.

Yeah definitely. Once I make it playable I'm going to put it up, and then I'll gradually add stuff from there.

looks like a good start B)

How would you describe the "target-game" you're making?

It's an old-school RPG, just the standard battle, level up, make money, form a guild. Same old thing. That type of game is my favorite though, I miss the old-school RPG's :(

i guess every php-game developer creates at least one of those old-school rpgs :)

I myself started out with these kind of games, but have now moved on to other genres.

Haha one? That's all I've ever created, because it's my favorite genre. I always thought strategy games were boring, and referral games like Outwar and Kings of Chaos were always pretty annoying. I know there are still other genres, but I just make games that I would like to play myself. Of course, I do try to put a new spin on things once in a while.

I've started my vampire rpg game but I havent had much time to work on it this week as I'm in Los Angeles on a business trip (and my glasses broke the first day I was here...)

I broke mine a little while ago, I just got new ones earlier today. Also thanks man, I'm working on the actual engine before I really flesh out the layout, I was just getting a general idea of the color scheme. Seeing a preview of your game would be pretty nice ;)

I finally got a host and domain, and my game should be up at www.rbrw.net in less than 24 hours. The game is by no means complete, but it will be playable.

Lately, I've been working on a game framework. Everything is customizable from the types of money to names of the common buildings (bank, hospital, arena, gym, etc).

To demonstrate it, I made a version of it to look like my old favorite game, Robowars. It's not complete by any means, but check it out:

I'll also be putting up a lot of old unreleased games (as well as some sources) that you guys might find interesting.

Yeah, sorry about that. I should really add that to the Account page... if I ever get back to working on that game.

Lately my time's been going into Robot Fight.

Don't really see much difference in the two games, but as I understood it, the other one was "just" a clone of a former game, right?

Well, I registered anyways just to look at it :)

But why such small text?

Yeah, the first one was a clone, I really only put it up just to have it.

This one uses a lot from the first one, but with small yet important changes.

As far as the font size goes... I dunno. I think it looks good like that. I think the problem is that the entire layout is kind of cramped, I'll have to sort that out.
