Hive Battles
« on: March 14, 2011, 01:39:18 PM »
Hey guys, i'm new to this site,my name is Pascu Emanuel Sergiu and i was born and currently live in Romania (sorry for my bad grammar) , just started working on a browser Rts game called Hive Battles, it's more of a fantasy rts game since many of the things i will implement in the game don't happen IRL. The game is like this, you start out by choosing a race (Ants, Termites or Wasps), each race having distinct pros and cons, i'm only on the sketching part just brainstorming. I was wondering what do you guys think, for all i know it's never been done before, everywhere i look i see medieval or modern rts games, not much that goes "out of the box". I'm a big time newb when it comes to html, css, php etc. programing. Any help whatsoever will be much apreciated, i really want to make this happen. Waiting for you're suggestions, critics, opinions. Your's truly, Shno.

Sounds like a great idea conceptually.  How do you foresee it working?

I tryed to think of the mechanics, and i started to get a headache, i jumped from one thing to another, it's a lot of work but i'm certain that it will be worth it.

Ps i'll write the ideas so far, hope they are good enough.

I really like the idea of insects battling one another. I can't wait to read more. :)

Welcome to the forums  :)

I always wondered why there aren't many games about ants. I tried to make a 2d ant RTS a long long time ago back when I first started programming.

I think your Ants-Termites-Wasps idea could be a great game. It will be interesting to see how you set it up :)

There are several ants browser games, but these are not easy to find also most of them not in English, I think. You would need to make heavier googling I guess... The problem is that ants games (not multiplayer) are quite popular and trivial to make so all the spots are taken by flash game sites making it hard to get any players via search engines.

Advertising won't be a problem. 8)

Got the beginning story: Battles raged on as the first organisms appeared, it was natures way of selecting the strong from the weak. Of all the planets beings, three distinct races excelled at surviving. The fast and vicious ants, the mighty termites and the cunning wasps. Choose yout side, grow your hive, protect your queen, fight for survival and wreak havoc amongst your enemies.

I am expectig some feedback if this text isn't to cheesy.
