Looking for testers for a PHP/AJAX real-estate game
« on: September 18, 2008, 06:57:49 PM »
We've been working on a PHP/AJAX game called Demand Spike and we'd like to invite you to test it out and tell us what you think of it:
http://www.demandspike.com

The game attempts to bring the fast-paced action of day-trading stocks to the real estate market. You are a real estate investor and your goal is to earn the most money by buying and managing rental properties in a simulated market. The market changes over time, so players must both identify profitable properties and manage their existing portfolio in real-time. The player with the most money at the end of the game wins.

Demand Spike is meant to be a 2-player game, so you'll get the most out of it if you can get a friend to be on the game while you are (there's a 1-player mode available for practice). If you're interested in testing but can't convince a friend to join with you, get in touch with us on our forum and we'll work something out:

If you'd like to learn more about the game, here are some resources to get you started:

Game Board Walk-through:

Thank you for your time and we hope to see you on Demand Spike soon!

Why 2 player's game? This is really troublesome on internet (for example you can not play with your clan mates), at least 10-20 players would be much better... Besides, when I have 1 friend available we play board games at home. The whole point on internet is so we can get more of us to play without logistic problems.

Hey All,

If you've submitted an account request within the past 24 hours, you should have received an activation email. Apologies if you received more than one, we're still cleaning that feature up. The basic upshot is that until you activate your account, you'll continue to receive activation emails as we send new ones out to others.

A couple quick points regarding 2-player vs multiplayer:

1. We'd love it if each game had enough spots for 10-20 people, and you could use clans to compete against one another. Unfortunately, we literally just launched a week or so ago and there isn't enough traffic to support that at the moment. Help us build a user base and we'll add that feature!

2. Just to be clear on the game concept, we wanted the games to be relatively quick so that players had the opportunity to play against a large number of opponents and potentially earn credits more quickly. Think of it more like a poker game (or a complex board game) as opposed to a virtual world. If the game generates enough interest, we'd like to setup a weekly bracket-style tournament and give the top players some kind of prize for the effort.

If you have any other questions, comments, or general feedback, feel free to post them on our community site: http://community.demandspike.com

We're only 2 guys working on this during our free-time, but we'll do our best to follow-up with every comment that's posted!
