Please take a look at my current project:

Path to Pelantas - www.pelantas.com

It's a text-based persistent fantasy browser-based game. It has been made with the inspiration from football manager games like Hattrick if you know it. We've changed the setting, though. So, instead of appointing your players for football matches, you appoint elves, dwarves and orcs for arena battles, quests and monster-hunts.

Take a look and give us some feedback :)

Wow, that's a nice banner! Under "tell me more" you might want to increase font-size a bit and maybe change the default font ;)

So far I am reallly impressed with art work, but I am a bit confused on some of the gameplay. It might be helpful to have a gameplay tutorial that uses arrows to point you in the right direction.

Many years ago, I played in an Amber Diceless RPG campaign, for which I created the character Lochinvar of Terolon.  So that would be me.  :D

And here I thought I wasn't doing that well...  Lots of good questing and hunting, but I don't feel like I'm really catching on to the battle system.  (Which may be because I can't watch the battles (there's no Silverlight for PowerPC Macs) and the blow-by-blow logs are too long to read in full, so I'm trying to get by with just the after-battle summary stats.)

There will soon be added a battle analyser which will ease your efforts...

Welcome to Zephren and Darunia from this forum as well!

*Is Darunia*   (shouldnt be a surprise to the observant ones :P)

A few things i noticed that dont really make sense.
1) maybe a artifact from a previous version, but we choose our own passwords. so the 'change your password' trial is rather pointless and annoying. There may be others similar to this, i didnt see any though.
2) like dsheroh, i dont understand the battle thing. Silverlight doesnt work with certain browsers/OS and i use Chrome so i had no idea what was supposed to be happening during a battle. it was just a blank screen that seemingly did nothing, so i closed it. as many people as there are that probably cant use silverlight, this is a bad thing. i switched to IE out of curiosity to find out...and its a really cool screen, but the information i was getting from it wasnt too helpful. it also moves VERY fast on 'play', and you cant read what just happened before something new happens.
3) lots of the links take a moment to load, and there isnt a quick way to see if anything is actually happening. so there could be a number of people who click again (like me) only to find that hey just did the action twice :P

Overall it seems like a really cool game for those who dont mind putting out a little more effort than 'spend energy->train stats->level up' style games.

Thanks for the comments and welcome to the game!

1) Yes, this is indeed a survival of a previous activation procedure and we are about to change this silly tutorial trial to something like a skirmish battle or whatever.
2) It's a shame that not everyone is able to use the player. When we decided to develop in silverlight we thought that Microsoft would be able to develop this to all platforms earlier. We'll see what happens. You should be able to use it in Chrome, though??? And there is a scroller for battle speed, so you can make it extremely slow if you want to... Also note that there are two different players. You can choose to watch battle in old style player in your preferences. There is more focus on the text in this player.
3) Yes, we are aware of all these ajax problems and will change this eventually.

You might want to revisit your recruitment system...  As it stands today, I see no reason to, say, spend 75 gold on the Academy, then cross my fingers and hope to get someone decent (the one time I tried the Academy, I got a guy with Int/Lead in the 6-7ish range... and nothing else above 2; total waste of gold) when I can instead go to the market and spend 25 gold for a level 2 (on the cusp of 3) hero with Lead 12, Int 7, SoA 39, and 35 training points to spend, plus he's already been retrained from two-handed sword to paired daggers.  (Torle Maldolfo)

Even if enough people were buying heroes on the market that you couldn't get such great stats at such low prices, the market also has the distinct advantage of knowing exactly what you're going to get instead of spending the cash sight unseen, waiting for some number of recruitment updates (usually, but not always, longer than it would take for an auction to complete and the hero to trek to your settlement from the market), and then making a partial-information pick between a handful of options.  Since realizing that, I no longer see any reason to use recruitment at all, other than to shut my counsellor up.

Speaking of which, I'd like to request an option to tell the counsellor, "I already have 21 heroes and feel no need for more than that.  Even if I did, I would buy them on the market instead of doing the recruitment crapshoot.  So stop warning me that yet another recruitment event is about to pass unused."  Or is that what "Search the Countryside" was intended for?

FYI, trying to do a password reset after being unable to log in the Pelantas this morning:

The transaction log for database 'www.Pelantas.com' is full. To find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases

Sorry,  I missed this post back then...

Regarding recruitments -  I recently answered a similar question in the Path to Pelantas forums:

http://www.forum.pelantas.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=2313

I totally agree that at the moment it's more efficient to go to the market. But i'm positive that the market prices will be raised significantly when more players join the game. Already during the last couple of seasons we've seen a steady rise and it's not ending just yet.

Hehe, search the countryside is a good option to keep your counsellor's mouth shut :)

But I'll see if we can implement a counsellor preference regarding recruitment notifications...
