Rally manager
« on: August 08, 2010, 04:48:52 PM »
Hey everyone, wanted to share my new project called: Rally manager (right now has no other official name).
Currently I am working with base framework for game: creating maps, rendering "cars" on map, participate in events.
This will be core frame, so by switching the cars, tracks and design you can use it for wrc, streetrace, F1 or whatever rally style game.
It is still developed in my localhost (ver alpha 0.0.1 :P), so can't give you live example :)

The point
Manage your own rally team. Participate in events and race with other team managers.
Every race win gives you reputation.
I am planning to add quests/tasks for managers, so you always will have goals when playing.

What can you do?
Buy cars, hire drivers and engineers.
Use your engineers to develop custom items.
Watch races in live or re-play.
Create your own tracks by markin/drawing the track on map, when race takes place "cars" (car like markers) are rendered on created track.

Technologies
UI: Javascript (ExtJS, google maps API)
Back-end: PHP (yii framework)
DB: postgreSQL

This is short preview for now. I'll let you know when you can play/test/hack it :)

You should definitely add an Eight-Six Toyota Trueno ;). Good luck and have fun!

// Edit: Toyoto should be Toyota obviously :P

Currently those cars are just for testing.
I am negotiating with one of 3D-modeling company to add 3D cars and also 3D tuning/car building.
They seemed very interested :)
But if anyone has ideas about my game then i am one big ear.

Brief update:
It is two months from my first prototype for this game...
Last seven days I have been refactoring and refactoring and refactoring...
And now, at last, I have fully functional frame for racing (I think...) :)

So what have I done? (Events/Racing module)
1. Player can register to event. Sees event overview and teams who have allready registred to event.
2. Watch race - did some math here: now markers (what are moving cars) slow down before curve and accelerate after curve (marker speed changes while racing)
3. Made leagues and events loading dynamic.

Also made basic store for changing items/cars.

I know it seems nothing special, but now I have my core frame for game. Now I can start developing things that will make playing fun  :P
So a lot of worki waiting behind the corner...
And if you think your life is hard, then try doing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knYCilujrFM :)
