New players 100% competitive with older players
I think it should be "New players 50% competitive with older players", because you should get some benefit for longer play time. Otherwise the smarter ones (or to specify, older ones) will always win, which is unfair and unfun.

Nope, it's 100% fair. :) Just my preference that anyone should be able to play a match and win. Sure, experienced players will probably enjoy a slight strategic advantage, but, in theory, the only bar to victory is the player's ability to play the game. Which, of course, you can't (nor should you) balance for.
Idiocy - Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

DV8, I like the look of your game - it's the kind of genre I'd enjoy playing myself if I'm honest.
That's a very nice compliment. Thank you. :)

I'm going to put you on the spotlight and be a bit cheeky now DV8. Would you mind if I pinched your rules list (http://www.wiredreflexes.com/srx/index.php?s=7)? They're so well written and clear, it's quite amazing :) So just let me know, I won't mind at all if you tell me to go away and write my own list of rules (which I have done but I'm clearly not as good as you at this sort of thing).
I don't quite remember where I stole them from, but it would only be fair to not get my knickers in a twist if you steal them from me. :)

CygnusX, in your final screenshot, the image of the kingdom, where do you source this kind of fantasy scene from? or do you render this kind of thing yourself?

My brother in law does 99% of the art for the site.  Its custom made, as is all the other art (he also drew the guy on my banner below, along with many others).  I just wish he were more motivated to draw for me.  A large part of my design strategy is to captivate people with his amazing artwork.

I really appreciate this list, and I've shown it to some people already. I would welcome if a 1-post-thread with the link would be stickied and locked in this forum, for that it would be visible to all users and encourage to keep it up-to-date.

Thanks for considering my suggestion :)

This is the first comic rendered out of Comipics. I have to fix up some URLs (hope to be done within an hour) and set up deployment (using Chef for the first time, probably today or tomorrow) and the beta's live. Many thanks to the #bbg crew for advice and encouragement.

And then as soon as I get it live I can do all the things I pushed off. I really cut the featurelist to the bone, it's only the core loop of collaborating on comics, you can't even browse around between comics and users. If folks like tha tenough to put up with an unsurfable site I know I've made something worthwhile. :) And then I can add in the game mechanics like contests.

I'll post a thread when I launch, but you can follow @comipics or @pushcx (my personal acct) for updates.

Visit #bbg on irc.freenode.net to talk browser games anytime.

Working on Illyriad  is a real-time, HTML5 Massively-Multiplayer strategy game in the Fantasy/Empire Building genre.

Illyriad "Alpha" was launched in 22 Feb 2010, Illyriad "Beta" was launched 31 Mar 2011 and we released on 16 May 2011. However development is ongoing.

It uses ASP.NET MVC back-end, and HTML5+JQuery front end.

Still plugging away with Kingdoms, my fantasy RPG. It's in "pre-beta" (essentially beta) as it has been for some time.... actually it's coming up on 4 years of development.

Last month I released a whole new UI (which still needs some tweaking), working on polishing up a few things, then might officially move to "beta". Or not, we'll see I guess :)

Sign-in or Create New Account - is this coded by you or you used some sort of RPX or other third party service? Why no Twitter?
Also some evaluation which of these are worth implementing.

On the server-side we use DotNetOpenAuth and in the client we use openid-selector

Twitter isn't there as it wasn't one of the default choices with the openid-selector; but it shouldn't be too hard to add in - the hardest bit would be adding the icon - The server-side doesn't change at all by adding additional OpenAuth providers. (We should probably do it soon...)

When adding OpenId our main goal was to integrate Google OpenId to work with the Chrome Web Store better; and the others are just an additional benefit with no extra work.

Hi developers,

I am a 21 frenchy boy currently working alone on a game project called Junkyard. The game concept is a tower-defense game played by controlling a builder/recycler guy.
I frequently upload last version here : http://syllab.fr/Junkyard/

Sprite sheets are from Megaman games, so I can concentrate on game logic rather than wasting time trying to be an artist. As many others, I'm on early development steps yet but I hope show you more in a few weeks.

Btw I think I'm already in love with this community ;)
