Ads on mpogd.com , apexwebgaming or TWG?
« on: January 27, 2009, 03:25:14 PM »
I am thinking of running an advertising campaign for uwar and I am wondering which of this 3 sites is best to put my banners on.

Which ones have you guys used and you think is better?

I am a bit disapointed about TWG because I have posted news on their website and even thought the news remained on the homepage for a while it brought me very few clicks. Meanwhile, the news posted on mpogd.com stayed for 3-4 days and brought 2 times more visitors.

So what do you think?

You should check how they have the ads set up so there are being seen by most of there members while not irritating them.

ProjectWonderful and select BrowserGames. This network has the most cheap prices for advertisers to my knowledge.

I especially recommend one of these slots http://www.lordsgame.com/links.php?a=ads (since thse are my slots :D) 160x600 in-game moonstone slot is quite cheap right now, below $1 a day for 20k impressions (if the price would be $1, which is lower at the moment, it would give CPM $0.05).

I advertised twice on mpogd.com and it was a waste. News brought more visitors than the $200 I spent.

Advertising a game is an art and it can cost you a fortune if bad managed.

Best is to start using free resources , get articles around the net. Join communities with players. Get listed in directories, submit sitemaps to google webmaster tools, yahoo, msn ...

Check for game(r) blogs and ask the blogger to write a article for your game (most blogs ping technorati) , get a article into Digg, start a fecebook uwar, twitter uwar, etc ...

it's a hell of a lot of work but you will receive a lot of exposure and more links at search engines.

make some special contests for your players; eg a MSN contest (sig and profile img has to be your game name) ,reward players to write articles, etc ...

ppc/ron banner ad campaigns ....

it's trial and error and figure out what works best for you, note that a ad banner is not like a game sig. A ad banner has to tell in a few seconds everything about your game and giving a reason to click that banner.

text link campaigns

I have no experience at all with those

e-mail campaigns

Even as everyone gets ton of spam, a e-mail campaign is still worth it

I've done multiple ad campaigns for different sites and games and to be honest not all where succesfull, main reason was that the game owner didn't follow up the new signups.

@pavansss91, tribalwars will easy cost you $250 ppc /h

I wouldn't put it on Apex, I don't know of a lot of people who go on there. TWG I believe gets more traffic than Apex, although I'm not entirely sure. I haven't heard much about mpogd.com, so therefore I can't tell you much about that site.

I wouldn't chose TWG nor Apex. I'd go with MPOGD and target the bigger audience.
Apex tries to be like MPOGD, but once you have the game owners bringing in traffic -how do you expect to be a top dog?
Ya, MPOGD's news traffic bring a ton of exposure to your game.
