I was wondering, what is your experience with bannerexchanges? Personally, I love the concept of free advertising (nothing to lose with it), but I also hear others are less enthusiastic.

What is your experience? Do you use it? Is it effective? Or, do you not use it? Why not? What would the perfect exchange be for you?

I am thinking of setting up an exchange (above the basic one which is for games only), but I'd like some input from you guys.

Pointless. The best ones bring less traffic than an average toplist.

lol, so adding a bannerexchange next to my toplist would not be a good idea, according to you?

Are you referring to a all-round exchange, or to a niche-exchange? With the basic exchange which I got next to WGF I accept only games.

Would you consider both to be ineffective, or would you think the niche-exchanges are better?

I do not know if it is a good idea to launch banner exchange. All I know that using it is not :D

I was referring to quality, well managed, browser games only exchanges. These are still pointless according to log statistics in my game.

About banner/links exchange... A guy wrote me that he would like to "propose" some links for exchange on a site i own (it's not ppbg-com)

On which variables i should decide if exchange banner with him?

1 - the sites should have at least the same content as mine?
2 - his sites has a PR >= than mine? (well my site has no PR for now)

Don't do link exchanges to improve SEO, instead try to create "organic SEO" (google it). Only if you are trying to get new users by exchanging banners you should think about it but things like PR don't matter in that case.

To clarily, by banner exchange I meant banner exchange networks (impression based). Exchange of links/banners with other games is a different story.
