BLVD-Media (offers, surveys etc)
« on: August 12, 2009, 04:56:16 PM »
I posted this up on Apex, but figured I should share here as well:

OK, been trying BLVD Media out and so far so good. Here's a shot of it on the site:

Basically you get a customizable, itunes coverflow-style interface. It's been converting like mad. Little amounts (20-30 cents) but the volume makes up for it.

The best part is users start to trust them since they actually get credited when they try offers out so they start doing higher-paying offers. Another motivational factor is that after they complete an offer it's shown with an X through it, so really, they have no choice but to move on to higher ones.

They do have some crappy survey type offers, but my users know to use alternate emails. Would appreciate it if you gave it a try under me: http://tinyurl.com/na7e6h

Because I covered just about everything already, I figured I'd just copy/paste the post. If reflinks aren't allowed, I apologize.

I have spoken to another webmaster that tried it, and it seems to be working well for them to. I'll stress that as I have just started and they are a Net 30 company, I have NOT yet been paid, however I have noted nothing in interactions so far with the staff that they won't pay. I should also note that in talks with them, they're a fairly new company. So take that for what it's worth.

Registration and site setup can be a bit of a pain (for me, the code to download was old and didn't work), but once operational it's pretty smooth. So far loads better than CPALead or Offerpal

I'm going to look into further customization (colors etc).

Referrals to games are a no-no. Referrals like you presented are allowed :)

When I signed up and played the fan immersion game Terminator: Salvation I saw they used a similar way to gain in-game items and at the same time make some money for the site. Not sure I would want to advertise something that is going to have my players sign up for other games though ;)

It's a shinny new toy for your users to use, would like to see you report after a month how it's still working. As you said the affiliates get harder as you progress so it'll be interesting to see how far the average player goes with-in that system....

Good luck with it, hope ya get some checks rolling in :)

I agree, definitely provide an update after having it up and running for a bit. It's hard to measure trends when you first implement a new feature because of the "Ooh, shiny!" mentality. But, after a month or so, it should be "old news" and you should be able to give a fairer estimate of usage.

Also, let us know if you receive proper payments. As any system that doesn't pay is, obviously, not worth the effort! lol

Thanks Mufasa....Ive been waiting for weeks to figure out a way to monitise an application that ive been working on (other than simple advertising that is)
and although i may not use BLVD or even this type of survey filling approach for some reason just taking a look at their site and reading this thread fired off the right nurons and that eureka moment that Ive been waiting for arrived....

I actually find this an unusually successful problem solving approach....dont wory about it and go on with one of the hundred other things that are equally important and wait for the answer to just come to you....

It would be interesting to hear from anyone else that is using BLVD or another system like it and hear how effective they rate them.

I just like offering many options. Not everyone has paypal, not everyone wants to use their phone for a micropayment, so this is just a good alternative. It's going to be kind of hard to judge overall effectiveness of this in a trend-manner since the site itself (prisonblock) is very new (launched mid July). So since most users are new, blvd is new to them as well.

But for what it's worth, many users continually do offers through it after the first time, and the conversion rate is much higher than it was when I used offerpal for the first couple of weeks of the site's existance

Hello Everyone,

I am from Blvd Media Group. If anyone has questions regarding the tool feel free to ask me. We are a fairly new company but we have been paying on time and really excited with the results so far. We built the company and system from the ground up with the games in mind. We made sure our tracking is as strong as possible to assure the best possible conversions.

Again, if anyone has questions feel free to ask.

Sincerely,

blvdmg

ouch thanks for warning...

I will try anyway but I'll add a clear and visible warning message about terms & conds of each offer and especially for cell-phones ones.
Unfortunately I know that won't change much errm :-\

Mike and I have talked directly regarding that, and I have to openly disagree with him on this one. Most users are savvy to these types of things, and know that it's all marketing. If you sign up for an offer, expect it to get sent to you, especially if you use your main address! ALWAYS read the fine print as well. I know you feel scammed Mike, but it's a situation of taking personal responsibility for your actions (or inaction in this case).

Additionally, things like popup and adblockers can prevent credit from being sent, but the BLVD guys are on point when it comes to issuing credits manually in my experience.

I say give it a shot. Most users (thanks to these being on facebook) know how to navigate these surveys/offers things. Sorry for the long post, I just didn't feel Mike's post accurately depicted the company. His situation is more user error than a bad company IMO

here are some discussions about it from my users (from both sides of the fence):

Well-said Mike. Though you decided to remove offers all together, one option would be to have a few companies running in parallel for the power users that complete them all.

Right now I have BLVD, OfferPal, TrialPay and Tatto Media in my chain. I find that BLVD and OfferPal update their offers the most though. TrialPay has the best payouts (higher numbers) and the best conversion success rate, but users don't seem to like them much.

Well I can break it down sure,

December 2009:
TrialPay .54%
Tatto .65%
OfferPal 4.13%
BLVD: 9.56%

Now December, I ran some promos that had people buying a LOT through PayPal direct, so for a comparison, here's this month to date:

January 2010:
TrialPay 5.24%
Tatto 1.01%
OfferPal 1.64%
BLVD: 30.61%
