New game, spread the word?
« on: March 10, 2008, 10:37:07 AM »
Hey everyone, I released a new browser based game http://www.mythici.com. Now that it's out there, what would you suggest for advertising? Besides adding it to sites like google/yahoo, I have no idea how to get people to try it out.

Thanks!

Advertise on forums, get your players to vote for your game on game listings :)

Maybe implement a nice referral scheme for players.

Didn't see this promotion section of the forum. Lots of posts on this topic already, most very useful. Great!

when it comes to such a specific games like browser-based mostly text ones, i think that being
listed on as many voting lists is much better deal than having (almost impossible to achieve) high
Google and other search engines rank ... with mentioned game lists YOU KNOW 100% that people
checking them are looking for games that share common factor with your game ... high Google
rank will get you some traffic but it won't be as targeted as with game lists!

other important things on top of words above are:

1. Google will limit your creative potential by asking for too much "friendliness" and rules complying,
2. Google might remove you from their index completely without letting you know that,
3. never focus on just one source of traffic!
