Pay through PayPal Mobile
« on: August 18, 2007, 03:57:23 PM »
Does anyone know anything about it? PayPal ignored my question. I think it allows to send cash via mobile balance. So it is almost as good as SMS but should be much cheaper.

Never heard of it..

I think the money still comes out of your paypal account, so it's not like paying by SMS or something.

Yes, but you can get all those "Not having CreditCard" players.

Yeah but accepting PayPal gets you that anyway. It wouldn't make sense for someone to use their phone to pay for a game online if the money is coming out of their PayPal account...

Not exactly, as I understand it, the payment is transferred from cellphone balance (available only from some cellphone providers in US+CA+UK) and carried to paypal account. If it works this way, you don't need CC.

That'd be nice, but I don't see anything on the site that indicates it can charge your cell provider, It's all references to how it comes out of your PayPal account.

Yes, they are very secret, that's why I'm asking if anyone knows details :)

hell, I've been googling for 15 minutes now and haven't found an answer. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding some things, but I'm still unsure whether the money comes from your paypal account or whether it's charged on your phone bill...

I might be misunderstanding since I've never had to use Paypal Mobile, but it says this on their FAQ:

Quote
Do I need a PayPal account to use PayPal Mobile?
You must have a PayPal account in order to use PayPal Mobile. After you activate your phone for PayPal Mobile, you can send money from your PayPal account to a phone number or email address.

To me that would say if a person wanted to use Paypal Mobile to buy something from your site, they would need a paypal account.

Paypal mobile uses your paypal account.

It works a few different ways. Not a great way overall, but I have tried it out, so here goes...

As someone who knows about the Paypal Mobile and wants to use it, you have to register your mobile number.

As someone who isn't registered, but got money sent to their number, you get an email and have to sign up for a paypal account, register your phone and I'm pretty sure to receive the money you have to verify your account with a bank account.

To pay someone advertising that they accept Paypal Mobile payments, you have to have or sign up for, a Paypal account, register your phone, fund your account with a credit card or bank account and send the money.

Overall, a complicated solution...

Ah..
I guess it's only useful for those who already have paypal and use it actively.
