Where to advertise?

Question from the other side of the barricade :)
I have some cash (very low budget) to spend on advertising, what do you recommend?

Well, it depends on how much you consider "very low budget".
There are some banner exchanges where you can get a decent CTR, and clicks cost 0.01 to 0.02$, so they're cheap. I bought some ads from an arcade banner exchange, which sold them at 0.15 CPM, and gave me a 1.3% CTR.

There are also some other free ways of advertising your game, such as word of mouth, using a cool signature link on forums, top site lists and banner exchanges.

Anything below $0.03 CPC is very cheap. Where did you found them? The lowest I got is reachads with 0.03.

About arcade sites, what is the conversion rate? To my (small) experience it's lower that for browser games. I'm getting around 35% conversion from ads on browser mmo.

I used moreplayerz.com, but they seem to be offline these days (since about a week ago). I'm not sure about their conversion (I didn't trace conversion rates properly at the time) - I guess it was quite low, due to the high CTR.
35% conversion sounds great, though.
As soon as I release my new game, I'll trace conversions properly, and post the stats here (unless, of course, they're too good to be true  :D ; in that case I'll probably be in a private island in the Caribbean...)

I've used TopRPGames.com and TopWebGames.com for my advertising

TRPG: $50 = 1,000 clicks
Disadvantage: They're a bit slow with sorting your ads out and they ain't as active as they use to be

TWG: $50 = 416ish clicks
Disadvantage: None. Besides the lack of clicks.

Neither of them have a time limit.. so the ads are shown until the clicks run out and then you simply buy more!

Both accept paypal as they're main payment option.

I think $50 is pretty good!

My favourite of the two is TWG since it's very active and you'll get members going to your site quickly! The ads are also set up pretty quickly which is always good ;)

I'd recommend advertising on another game site, such as www.chosenspace.com
he has 3 other games you could choose from, also:
www.csgalaxies.com
www.galacticfleets.com
www.gamestocks.com (if you consider it a game)

The best method from advertise is TWG, you can get a lot`s of members. It has a great comunity who is most of the time active :)

Yeah it is. ApexWebGaming.com is also really good - I don't have any ads up, but their advertising system streaches further than their site! It's on games themself.

You sign up to their ad system, and you can set up a zone get like $0.03 per click... when that reaches $20 you can either fill out the tax forms an have a check sent to you, or use it to advertise your site via AWG! Plus you get 25% extra! so your getting $25 for advertising an with low rates of $0.03 per click you can get a good 800/900 clicks outta it.

It's nearly advertising for free :P

or you could use bux.to - lots of ads.
you must pay first allmost 20$ to put you advertise in... but it`s worth :)

Ha, I use to have one of those, never know why I stopped using it :P It was pretty sweet... never added any adds just made money from it lol!

All little bits help, so a page on wikipedia about your game and links on other pages in wikipedia to your game (it must be relevant, offcourse!).

What conversion do you get? Paid To Surf tend to bring a lot of clicks but nonexistant conversion (unless your site is about eaerning money) to my knowledge.
