Resource Systems

What kind of resource systems do you prefer in text games?

Single-Resource Systems? (Just, for example Gold)
Mulit-Resource Systems? (3 or 4 Resources such as energy, metal, stone, food)
Multi-Level Resource Systems? (4,5 main Resources which can be combined to form more sub-resources, for example: coal + ironore = iron, wood + iron = spear)

And what about the type of gathering?
Endless resources (Such as starcraft or warcraft where only few resources are available and they cease after they have been collected)
Endless resources
Continuos flow of resources(The gatherers don't have to bring the resources to a collecting-station)
Incontiuos flow of resources (the opposite of the above)

I personally prefer a Multi-Resource system with an incontinuos flow of resources. I don't really care wheter the resources are endless or infinite.
I really don't like Multi-Level resource systems, simply because I think it just complicates and slows down the game.

I can't say much about the continuos flow of resource since I haven't found a game which incorporates thy system well enough for me to play and neither have I tried to implement it in a game yet.

I guess it changes with different types of games. RPGs should be more simple, so stick with 1-3 currencies. But strategy games usually have more resources and are more complicated to play.
For my own games, I had a strategy game with a multi-resource system and an incontinuous flow.
My RPG has only one currency, gold, and it's incontinuous.

When I play games I would prefer a single or multi resource system with a continuous flow. I'm too lazy to go get my resources :P

I like having multiple currencies (copper, silver, gold, plat, etc) but mainly so it's easier to buy/sell. I'd rather type 300p than 300000000g.

Multi-level Resource Systems can be fun if it's used for a crafting system (as long as you don't go overboard like SWGalaxies did originally, i.e. RandomName1 Aluminum is different from RandomName2 Aluminum)

Crimson Moon has an interesting system in place - credits are the primary currency but gold, platinum, silver, and tokens are also collected and used for different things (gold is used for armor upgrades, silver for weapon upgrades, etc).
