BB Game Resources!
« on: February 14, 2012, 05:40:35 AM »
Hi,

Currently, I have the following resources for a game:

 - T1 Connection
 - Awesome domain name
 - Limited budget

What I'm looking for is some suggestions on the following (prefer open-source/freeware, but willing to pay):

 - Development Management System/Web-Based Team connectivity
 - PHP template(s) that feature authorization and high security, along with various payment option/processing code as well
 - Additional suggestions welcomed

Again, my budget is limited.   Most of which will go towards commissioning artwork.

I have extensive knowledge in PHP/MySQL, xHTML, CSS, Javascript, and Ajax (which wil be a big part of the game).

I'm currently developing much of the AJAX tech for the game along with fleshing out the game design documentation.  However, I want to get rolling in other areas and get a basic template up ASAP.  I believe in Sid Meiers approach to game development: rapidly build a prototype then test test test until the game is acceptable for launch.

I think you mean framework, not template. A template is usually just the web design. And obviously you are not going to use a mafia game template in a fantasy game.
Most people in this site do not advise using frameworks. But if you have to I would say kohana.
Have a look at all options:

Hello Alan,

welcome to the Forums.

For a Team Managment System, i would Suggest Collabtive
Instead of PHP template engine i would suggest you to use a modern PHP MVC Framework, like Kohana
As JavaScript Frameworks i would suggest you jQuery,jQUeryUI and CraftyJS
As Version Controll i would suggest you Dropbox + Git
And if you need some Graphics/Sounds and stuffs check
http://opengameart.org/ and www.reinerstilesets.de/en
Have fun in forums

However afaik Kohana actually lacks a template engine so in that case (or any other template-engine-less framework) you might use Latte or Twig

I've actually considered buying MSCode, but I've read the security is lacking.  Plus, I'd end up stripping a generous portions of the PHP scripts out.

But, thanks for the replies.

not true, Kohana has a Module which is using the Mustache Template engine https://github.com/zombor/KOstache so it is up to u, use it or leave it:P
