Building Browser Games Tutorial
« on: June 22, 2010, 12:17:47 PM »
Hi there everyone.

I am trying to teach myself PHP and how to code a browser game at the same time.  I am following the tutorial that is this one

http://buildingbrowsergames.com/2008/05/16/building-browsergames-setting-up-a-templating-system-php/

and I am struggling on the smarty setup that is here

http://news.php.net/php.smarty.dev/2703

I've done everything it says down to
.......

Now open index.php in your web browser (requested from your webserver)

That is where I get confused as when I open up index.php in my www directory it takes me too my phpadmin page so I am reluctant to mess with it.

Can any-one help?

Hi and welcome to the site.

Did you create a new index.php and index.tpl? If so, in which directories did you place them?

I did indeed.

And I have also sorted it.

For any-one else who may come across this problem in the future i found a better installation guide here

http://www.installationwiki.org/Smarty

Makes it all a lot easier to understand than the installation for smarty.
