Cinematic soundtrack speech
« on: September 27, 2009, 08:49:50 AM »
Heya guys

Once again I come to you as a full starter, this time with the following issue:
I'm developing a (semi-dark) fantasy game, and I'm trying to create a little "intro movie" for it (more or less just for fun). Still I want it to be of good quality, and since I'm not natively english and I'm an amateur in such things I have problems composing a speech (it shall appear at the beginning of the trailer).

For this intro I provide parts of the story which can be used in the trailer speech, here they are:
- Scenario: Few human cities on continent Kargonar, the "Crimson Hand" warbands temporarily retreated, but they're still near them
- The "Cohortian Order of Protectors" was refounded by the Duke. Story part:
276 SWA – Duke Agnathos I rebuilds the Cohortian Order of Protectors to help pacify the lands of the republic sorely pressed by invaders (trolls, goblins, orcs and others) taking advantage of the years of civil war and stagnation. Agnathos had to search hard and long to find the last keepers of the knowledge that made the cohortian commanders expert leaders. He needed three to set up the core of the Order – the High Council. Agnathos choose: Aran Malanthar, Iluthar Highman and Ethuvar Glimwood.
- The "Crimson Hand" is lead by an orc named "Moroc"
- History: Roots of the humans on Kargonar are on the an archipelago (several islands). These anchestors fled from starvation and discovered the continent Kargonar. They settled there but still had the main "capital" on the islands. Then the stormwall appears:
Early 0 SWA – CS Spirit, a Commonwealth scout ship discovers the Storm Wall. Further scouting reveals the Storm Wall stationary, unrelenting and extending into the Outer Seas, blocking any path to the Pearl Archipelago.
- At game start we have the year 278 SWA (so 278 years after the storm wall appeared)

The speech shouldn't have too much infos 'cause I think this makes the text boring. (Especially have a look at Blizzards trailer, they seldom show up bigger parts of the story.)

Ofc I made several attempts creating a speech, but I don't want to influence you so I won't post it :)

I really hope to get some quality help here. Please post whatever idea you have, everything is welcome, but don't be disappointed if your idea gets declined ;)

Thanks a lot in advance
Best

I could be wrong about this, but it seems like you're wanting people to submit these "speeches" to you on here and you'll pick the one you like best. First off, these are better described as "narrative" just for your further english-speaking information (by the way I had no idea you weren't a native english speaker until you said so! lol)

Secondly, I doubt anyone is going to take this amount of time out for this task with no guarantee of acceptance or without some form of compensation for the one that is chosen. However, I could be wrong. :P

I think a better idea would be for you to write up what you'd like without worrying too much about the proper grammar. I bet you'll have more people willing to correct your grammar than would be willing to write the whole narrative for you. :)
Idiocy - Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
