Hello XD
« on: February 09, 2009, 07:31:54 PM »
Hello there, I am new at this but I am getting into it.

I have a few years invested in C++ and VB6, and a few in college.

I've been playing all sorts of games for several years, and by the end of it I found that I was more interested in how they work rather than actually playing them.

Right now I'm more worried about learning php and mysql than game ideas... once I fully understand the code, my imagination and determination are the limits! Besides, the first game always sucks XD

Welcome. If you have experience with C++ you shouldn't have too hard of a time with PHP. Except for strongly typed variables and enumerated constants... Curse you PHP for making me add so much boiler plate! lol

Yeah, I was surprised how similar some of the syntax is... still learning to use mysql, I haven't used it much, when I coded in C++ I usually made my own databases, lol. I'm glad I did though, it taught me to get index vars correct, and about complex arrays of strings...

Yeah, I usually try and implement something myself before using any kind of package or what-not. Even if mine isn't quite as good at the job, I usually gain a better understanding of what is likely occurring behind the scened :D
