ok first of all I would like to say im new so I dont know what all can happen and what can work, but I am new to the whole game making .... uhh busness or thing. im not sure what ot call it. I have had loads of ideas but I dont know what to do. basicly at all. I have no idea how to program, what software to use, and all the little perks and such. I would have to say the best thing I have ever done is make a small clip using paint pictures, note pad text, and microsoft power point. *i had to set the slide change time to a fraction of a second.* that took forever and it was only a 6 minute film. *sorry thats kinda all the experiance i got.*
 If someone could show me what i need to get, do, and etc.. I would be very appreciative

get:
php, mysql, ftp-programm, programm to write your code in. Everything does the job as long as it saves text files (you can later rename them with *.php)

do:
install PHP 4/5 and MySQL
Go to php.net and read a bit around. Do the tutorial and look at some open-source-code.

yep, that's about it. If you have absolutely no idea how to program, you should also visit wc3schools.com and learn some html, css and javascript.

im not exactly sure what php is or mysql or the ftp program ill look into the php.net thing that should cover that but i would like to know what the others are and what they do if posible. thnx a bunch though

PHP is the language, in which you write your game in. Of course, you can use other like JSP or ASP, but I'd recommend PHP since it is quite easy to learn and almost all webspace providers offer PHP and MySQL support.

MySQL is a database. This will be needed to store all the players data and so on. Otherwise you would have to be constantly logged on or you'd need another way of saving a character (textfiles or so)

An ftp is simply a program which is used to upload your files to your webspace. If you're working on your local machine, you won't need that. You just need to move your files to the correct folder.

I think that the very first thing to do is to learn HTML

Check out W3schools.com for a great tutorial, and maybe go to some of your favourite websites, right click and select View Source to get an example of how a website is built up.

dude thanx ill learn the php in a little bit but i think the html thing is working quite nicely. im gonna work on the php as soon as i can get the html done.
