no more GIMP or Photoshop!
« on: October 20, 2009, 01:45:45 PM »
I stumbled across this site and was pleasantly surprised. They have LOADS of different background textures, Fonts, button -,  menu - and Logo maker. And best of all, free unlimited hosting for them. I really think you guys should check it out.

I can send you pics of my cocks if you want reference.

The editor's you mentioned are used for a reason... honestly and don't take it personally...the graphics there are of terrible quality and you won't create a whole design out of it anyway. (now I saw "© 1997", that explains it...) I appreciate you wanted to share what you find interesting, don't get me wrong

You may not want to have visually rich game, but then you can make it nice even with CSS, make it subtle and more text-based then.
This is how looks a game with the best game(mechanics)design I've seen so far and I like the most: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/19/Meliorannis.PNG
Almost no graphics, very subtle yet relatively nice (considering it's text-only) ... I think it's better than have graphics there at all cost, even if you don't know how to do them and use some poor quality pre-made ones

edit: replaced link (design is flexible, that's why the width)
edit: I don't say visually rich website's are not good either, I actually like them more, but then one have to accept that they're more difficult to create

I agree with Nox, I have seen some text based sites that look great. The magic is in the use of a good layout, a color palette and some excellent CSS.

All the games that I play online are text based and so is the game that I am making. I do hope that I can come up with a good site too.

I have nothing against grsites.com. It might be a good idea for those who are graphically inclined. I created a text based background texture and it was much easier than actually using GIMP or photoshop, I must admit.

It's not bad as a site, at least for making banners and button. However I noticed it has some limitations if not registered (and seems not free).

Look the following site, it has a lot of effects for manipulating images:

Kind of off-topic but has anyone tried Aviary?
