Simple animated banners: which sw to use?
« on: October 08, 2009, 05:51:03 AM »
As per subject, i tried to use gimp but i think i need something simplier. I need to make simple banners with animated text. In gimp i have to create all the frames and it's too complicated for what i have to do.

Anyone of you knows some software that has less functionalities but it's easier to use?

thanks

Nobody tend to read animated banners and many dislike them.

Make simple and cool banners :)

Not sure about the 'nobody reads animated banners' statement. It's like any other form of advertising, you should create several banners and check the demographic returns of those banners. Then, use that data to switch up your banner campaign to best target your audience.

hey jgad, i didn't exactly mean that.
I meant, in my opinion people wouldn't tend to look flash banners and some may find them irritating.

The only way you should use an animated one is made a little shin or something cause msot people ignore animated ones especially if you got lots of stuff on your site already

Really? Do we have data for these "most" people? I mean, I WORKED for a company that specifically did online advertising and the banners that seemed to get the most clicks were animated / flash banners. Captures the viewer's attention.

I can see a case if EVERYTHING on the site is in motion... but. I would be hesitant to discard the idea based on a suggestion. As I indicated above:

Try a couple of different methods and TEST what offers the best return value. Maybe your audience hates animated banners... maybe they LOVE animated banners and would be an all-day click-fest. Who knows if you don't try. ;)

well ads are a different thing all together and since most are small they do need something extra but a big giant animated banner is not a good idea :P

I've always thought some of the standard advertisement sizes were quite large. Specifically Leaderboards (728 x 90) and Skyscrapers (120 x 600).

But, I suppose it's not so bad anymore with the prevalance of large monitors. :)
