Vector or Raster?
« on: October 10, 2006, 11:57:11 PM »
have made a few flashies for several gamers profiles, have found Vector format lighter file sizes & much better resolution.

(vector being curves i.e. illustrator freehand etc, raster = pixels)

I think vectors look nicer :)
I tried illustrator once, and it was pretty awesome. I never knew I could draw :D

yep - i agree zeggy - i think vector is far more superior, as long as theyr created properly...

yep illustrator is the best vector app i have ever used - & over 12 years pre-press graphic experience - i should have some understanding.

What file format do you save the vectors in for the web?

for the web, you use svg which is an xml based format, but not too many browsers support it yet. what most people do is just save vectors as pngs.

png is raster.
i import my vectors into a flash swf, that retains the vector info. (& u can add audio, preloaders & actionscripts if u wish).

Yeah, PNG is raster, but it's what most people save vectors as to use on the web, because of the quality.
